Expansion joints are elements that allow to connect decks or, more generally, structures positioned side by side, capable of supporting both vertical and horizontal movements, giving a sense of continuity to the surface.
The design and presence of expansion joints is necessary for the construction of civil works such as roads, bridges, and viaducts, as elements installed in conjunction with the structure gates, so that continuity can be guaranteed between the various parts that make up the structure itself, the deformity, and displacements of the same.
The joints can be distinguished by the materials of which they are composed, steel or rubber, or by their structure and positioning relative to the road level.
It is clear, therefore, the importance of these elements in safeguarding and guaranteeing durability to different road works, preventing phenomena of recede and expansion or problematic events such as wind, rain, or seismic shocks to impair their functionality and safety.
Designed and manufactured on the basis of the principle of modular components assembled with each other in relation to use needs, they are equipped with sliding units that ensure precise alignments, control of high speeds of movement, easy installation, and maintenance.
These plates ensure smooth, accurate movements and low friction for different load ranges. Our slide plates are modulated, differently configurated according to the characteristics and specifications of the project provided by the customer.
These handling systems are used, together with our expansion joints, for the construction of civil works such as bridges, viaducts, and roads.

connectors and hinges
For the realization of this system of mobile dams, designed to protect the city of Venice and its lagoon from high water, we processed the male and female mechanical component that are connectors and hinges.
The project pertains to the construction of an integrated system of several works that includes mobile gates that serve as a barrier, positioned at the ports’ mouths of Chioggia, Malamocco and Lido; moreover, outside the ports’ mouths, complementary cliffs have been installed to allow the containment of the levels of frequent tides, up to about 110cm.
This integrated defense system is remarkably functional, ensuring the safety of port activities, the ideal water quality, and the protection of a city which, together with its lagoon, is a UNESCO world heritage site and the second in Italy, after Rome, for tourism.
