PAPER PRODUCTION
Our continuous search for improvement and our open-mindedness towards new sectors and new potential customers have allowed us to enter the paper production industry, which in 2020 exceeded 8.5 million tons and 6.35 billion euros
Among the components we process we find the processing of YANKEE DRYER, complete with threading and finishing, and closing discs
In particular, the Yankee dryer is defined as the “heart” of a paper production plant; through the steam introduced inside the dryer, its surface overheats (reaching about 50°-60°), allowing the drying of the sheet through the process of evaporation and its optimal degree of dryness, after passing through the presses.
Generally, the humidity of the sheet goes from 65% to 5% approximately, making the sheet of paper optimal for domestic or sanitary use. Next, this sheet will be removed by a cress blade, whilst maintaining the degree of elasticity and softness achieved in its passage through the Yankee dryer.
In a paper production plant, the main function of a Yankee dryer are:
handling of the paper sheet;
creation of the point of contact (called nip) with the press;
drying of the sheet through the transfer of heat.
Yankee dryers can have a coating of varied materials, such as cast iron or steel; in both cases, it is imperative for it to be able to guarantee a high thermal conductivity and an optimal resistance to wear or pressure.
To guarantee its maximum functionality and performance, his coating must be uniform, besides a high mechanical and heat bumps resistance.
When these conditions occur, the Yankee dryer might be subjected to turning, grinding and overlay welding procedures, in such a way to restore its functions and optimize endurance.
As of today, the Yankee dryer is mostly used in crepe paper production for both sanitary and domestic use, due to the possibility of the sheet to completely dry up fast, as well as its complete adherence to the dryer itself and its high speed; characterized by low grammage, in these productions the Yankee dryer works alone and at a high speed during the drying phase.
